I grew up playing street hockey, back before roller blades were invented and ice hockey was too expensive. As a kid I tried every sport there was, but none called to me like hockey did. I was fortunate enough to live 10 minutes away from an outdoor street hockey rink. I played on as many teams as I could and went to practice anytime the rink was open. By practicing and working hard, I improved my skills and developed strong self confidence that I carry with me today.
I am starting this program so that it is available for my kids if they wish to play in the future. I also feel that there are many kids out there that would like to play hockey but they don't have the opportunity. Or they haven't found the sport they love yet, and maybe this is it.
